Gathering Life (Reflections on Creating in the Midst of Death)
I don't believe that we choose the bulk of our lives as much as it all chooses us. As an artist, I have often chosen paths that have led me to explore the depth of my humanity through emotions, experiences, and physical sensations. Though I've never been afraid of death, I've never thought to explore it either.
As I build my catalogue for music, I'm finding that I'm finally feeling the freedom to branch out from my classically trained roots. As I sifted through my collection from over two decades of performing, I found myself lacking music that made me feel connected to life, to love, to hope. I'm now on a journey to build a collection of music to perform at bedsides that stirs a fullness of humanity while simultaneously ushering in peace and fulfillment. This is the flipped coin of life that I have not yet explored, but through this experience, it seems life has chosen this time for me to gather all of the parts of life.
